Rebecca Kiriazes

We'd like to congratulate doctoral student Rebecca Kiriazes of the Georgia Institute of Technology for being selected as the 2019 STRIDE Center's Student of the Year. Rebecca received the award during the Council of University Transportation Centers Banquet on January 11, 2020, during the 99th Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) in Washington, D.C. This award is given to a student at each University Transportation Center who demonstrates strength in areas such as technical merit and research, academic performance, professionalism, and leadership.

Student Highlight

Sahila Sarjana, M.S., UAB

This spring, Sahila Sarjana graduated with a master’s degree in civil engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She also worked as a graduate research assistant on a STRIDE-funded project titled “Technology Influence on Travel Demand and Behavior”, a project led by her thesis adviser Dr. Virginia Sisiopiku. She also won 1st Place in the STRIDE Student Poster Showcase/Competition, which took place during the University of Florida Transportation Institute Reception during the 99th Annual TRB meeting in Washington, D.C.

Student Highlight

A B M Tausif Ullah Chy, M.S., UAB

A B M Tausif Ullah Chy completed his graduate work this spring and graduated with a master’s degree in transportation engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). As a research assistant, he mostly concentrated on traffic operations and management with a focus on freeway work zones. Tausif also won 2nd Place in the STRIDE Student Poster Showcase/Competition, which took place during the University of Florida Transportation Institute Reception during the 99th Annual TRB meeting in Washington, D.C.
